Caladesi Island State Park

Caladesi Island State Park is located three miles offshore from Dunedin, just north of Clearwater Beach.

Pristine and Unspoiled

It is one of the few undeveloped barrier islands left in the state and the 600-acre park is accessible only by boat. The beaches front the Gulf of Mexico and the bay side of Caladesi is a mangrove swamp, offering refuge for numerous wading birds and shorebirds. Much of the island’s interior is a ridge of virgin pine flatwood and live oak hammocks. A self-guided nature trail winds through the island’s interior. Park rangers are available to answer questions.

Caladesi Island Ferry

You can get to the island via the Caladesi Island Ferry, (727) 734-5263, which departs from Honeymoon Island and runs from 10:00 am to 5 pm, weather and attendance permitting.

About Caladesi Island

Caladesi Island was “Voted Best Beach 2008 ” so if you are looking to relax, Café Caladesi offers beach chairs and umbrellas for rental. For the adventurous, a kayak trail takes you through Caladesi mangrove tunnels into the Gulf of Mexico. Ocean kayaks are available for rental at the park.

The cafe menu offers similar beverage and food options to the cafes on Honeymoon Island.

Boaters

There is a 108-slip marina on the bay side of Caladesi Island where you can dock your boat and spend the night, or anchor offshore if the weather is calm.

Overnight docking with electric and water hook-ups is permitted in the bayside marina, but boaters must register before sundown. For more information, visit the Florida State Parks website.
